Calendar Listing: October 13-November 8, 2009.Casa California, a Design House of Distinction, presented by California Homes Magazine in partnership with the Philharmonic Society of Orange County. A new home by Finton Construction in the exclusive community of Irvines Shady Canyon with top designers from Orange County and Los Angeles. The House evokes the glamour and sophistication of the Wallace Neff time with an emphasis on timelessness and contemporary sensibility. Proceeds benefit Philharmonic Youth Programs.

Public tours are daily, except Mondays, during 10 am to 4 pm and extended hours to 9 pm on Thursdays to Meet the Designers. Tickets for any day and time: $30 per person until October 12 and $35 thereafter; special Design House Pass for unlimited entry for one person is $40 if purchased by October 12 and $45 at the door. Free parking with complimentary shuttle service from the upper lot of Quail Hill Community Park, 35 Shady Canyon Drive (entrance off 405 freeway at Shady Canyon exit). Why: Proceeds from Casa California will help fund the Philharmonic Societys nationally recognized music education programs for youth. More than 200,000 Orange County students, from kindergarten through high school, participate yearly in the Youth Programs provided by The Committees of the Philharmonic Society. The volunteers of The Committees create, provide and fund an extensive array of programs. Over 1,500 presentations are offered by professional musicians and trained docentsat no chargeto all public and private schools in the county.

What: Casa California is a new home, designed by John D. Henderson, AIA of Spectrum Architecture and built by Finton Construction, in the exclusive community of Irvines Shady Canyon. The classic design is deeply influenced by the unique and eclectic architecture developed in the early years of the twentieth century by such masters as Wallace Neff and George Washington Smith. With more than 10,000 square feet of livable area, Casa California will evoke the glamour and sophistication of that expression combined with an emphasis on timelessness and contemporary sensibility.

Sixteen of Southern Californias most prestigious designers have been selected to work under the direction of James Magni of Magni Design, Inc., who says The interior design will represent the best work of the designers in California.

When: Casa California will be open October 13 through November 8, 2009, Tuesdays through Sundays. Unique Boutique, delicious Cafy Golden Truffle, Opportunity Prizes and important Design and Garden Lectures will be presented. The Gala Opening Party will be held on Saturday, October 10, 2009.

LECTURES
Important Design and Garden lectures will be presented on Wednesdays at no charge to Design House ticket holders. The schedule will be posted on www.philharmonicsociety.org
